K-WEEK (JULY 17)

Another great K-pop filled week has passed and boy was it a busy one! With countless comebacks, promotions, and announcements this week in K-pop was crazy! Here are some major events to catch you up.

EXO IS BACK WITH A NEW SOUND, MUSIC VIDEO, AND ALBUM

EXO is a group I’ve talked about excessively last week and rightfully so with the release of their latest album, The War. You can read more about EXO and their recent album by clicking here.

K.A.R.D. MAKES THEIR LONG-AWAITED DEBUT

The co-ed group has FINALLY made their debut after releasing three pre-debut singles, touring across the world, and completing endless promotion work. The group debuted with ‘Hola, Hola’ that is once again another catchy summery hit (although, I wonder when K.A.R.D. will finally branch away from this sound). Watch ‘Hola, Hola’ below and click here to check out their new mini-album. Also, if you’re interested, check out my reaction video to ‘Hola, Hola’ by clicking here.

AKMU RELEASES A SURPRISINGLY ADDICTING EDM SINGLE

AKMU made a surprise return after fans thought that the older brother, Lee Chan-hyuk, would be leaving for the military! However, AKMU made one last comeback for their fans and even delivered a COMPLETELY different sound and music video! The promotions alone were daring, with a creepy feel that reminded many international fans of Netflix. AKMU released a music video for ‘Dinosaur’ and showcased a more EDM, tropical house sound that has become popular this summer in K-pop.

KNK RETURNS WITH ONE OF MY FAVORITE LIVE PERFORMANCES SO FAR THIS YEAR

When others were dazzled by groups like K.A.R.D. and EXO, I was thoroughly impressed with KNK’s latest mini-album, GRAVITY, and their absolutely BEAUTIFUL live performance of their title song, ‘Rain.’ It’s something that every new K-pop fan should watch and admire! By implementing smooth, elegant moves and umbrellas, KNK stands out amongst the body rolling, hip-moving choregraophy that is popular during summer comebacks. To me, KNK’s latest performances embodies the idea that sometimes less is more and that vocal talent is all that is needed to shine. Hopefully, this will help increase KNK’s popularity, but only time will tell. To say the least, KNK has one new fan and that’s me!

What was your favorite K-pop moment last week? Let me know in the comments below!
